Opacity colors for the Craft color field

I previously put up #17265 where Brandon improved the possible outputs of of the colorField and making them accessible as properties. I was using the color field again today but it seems there is no option for opacity? Is there any technical reasoning for this?

Would be a pretty nice addition. Now I'm stuck with creating an entry type that contains a color field and number field 0 - 100 for determining the opacity. It's also not so fun using it in the templates.
