I agree that the UI here could be improved. How to access a single is not obvious since the word "singles" only makes sense to us craft developers, not to clients. I'm not sure that just adding singles to the sidebar is the answer though, since the sidebar and entry list currently work as a parent/child relationship. Singles themselves do not have child items like channels do. It would probably make more sense to have have the option to break Singles out into a separate list above the channel/structure entry browser. Singles could even be shown in a grid view with thumbnails of the pages. :) |

On small and medium sites, I often find I only need to create 1 to 3 singles, yet clients get confused because their names aren't immediately visible in the UI. I can imagine it helping them to see all the singles listed under a heading, just like Structures and Channels — now the sidebar shows every recognizable area of their site.
Of course this would would need to be optional, and it introduces an inconsistency in that clicking a Single's name would take them directly to an editing screen instead of loading a list of entries in the right pane, but I'm not sure that would matter much.
