Notifications not working

Reproduction Steps

1. Open app
2. Wake up time 7am, sleep 9pm
3. Set to 3,000ml
4. Notification interval set at 0.5 hours
5. Few days later notifications stop

Expected Result

Notifications to be displayed

Actual Result

Notifications do not work anymore, they work for a few days and then stop once the app is installed, despite having battery optimizations for the app turned off, and allowing the app to run in the background, also turning off "remove permissions if app is unused" it is also not a sleeping/in deep sleep app.
It's more than likely my device, (Samsung A52) as another similar app (Hydro coach in the Play store) will do the same thing and I have no idea why

Quick update: I think I know why the updates haven't been working. Well, they work if the app is open, but the problem I'm seeing is I don't think the app stays open in the background. I've had power optimization disabled for days now and yet it doesn't show it as being open for any time in terms of background activity.

Full charge last occurred at about 15:00-ish today (approx. 6 hours ago), so if it's been open in the background, it should show something by now.
