In order to enable satellite scraping that feature has to be enabled under
config-root -> features

I'd rather find it useful to allow users configuring satellite scraping on a device level.

what kind of metrics do you get when configured under root? I can't seem to collect any, neither under root nor under the host features config.

To give a bit of background on why the option is global: In scenarios where your config uses a wildcard and Prometheus supplies target hostnames/IPs an individual config would not be possible. Or it would be part of yet again a wildcard config block which results in the same behavior as of today.

same for me, no metrics at all with -satellite.enabled=true

What version of the exporter are you using?
