So @gvilarino any version of Ubuntu will work just aswell?
So any proximate on how much memory to reserve per node?

Latest Ubuntu should do the trick. We've tried it on Ubuntu 10 through 14; although I'd always recommend latest stable.

Free Heroku instances are 512MB and seem to work well under non-heavy loads. For a heavier load 1024MB should be more than enough. You can learn more of the Heroku machine specs here.

I believe Digitial Ocean's VPS/Droplets follow the same rule of sizing as Heroku, but I'm not totally sure about that. Maybe @jaromil can shed some light on this.
