If you use v9.2, WebView2 is optional. The "Quick Setup" dialog shows the missing features when WebView2 is not installed. This dialog should show on the first launch only, unless you open it from Main Menu > Help > Quick Setup.

I've never opened it from Main Menu > Help > Quick Setup. The prompt only appears at random when opening a picture file. I opened the json file and found that line:
Since it appears totally at random I cannot provide a video. I had just assumed that it was programmed to do that nag screen on random occasions. It didn't occur to me that this would be a bug. I can attach the entire json file if you think it would help. It should be noted that this only happened a few times, but as this is a completely new install of windows a few times in a few days is still allot. The only thing I can think of is that this morning it happened immediately after the computer power was interrupted due to a brown out, but when it happened yesterday there was no such event so I doubt that's the only reason. I created a file named igconfig.default.json with the following as suggested:``` {

I recently installed the latest version of ImageGlass on a new computer so it's the latest version. I have it setup as the primary image viewer for all types of images.
Every so often when I open an image a prompt asks me if I want to install webview2. From what I can gather this is specifically used for using Microsoft Edge as the rendering engine for other apps. I absolutely do NOT want anything to do with edge running at any time so I always click to skip after which point some random default image opens with imageglass instead which I then have to close before opening the image again from windows explorer.
It should be noted that even if I wanted to install Web2View I couldn't. This computer is using a windows 10 ameliorated build which I had installed because the telemetry on the old computer was causing too many problems. Many core windows features are stripped out so if I did click to install web2view it would just fail.
So, how do I make this nag screen go away? Images load just find without webview2, but the prompts are interrupting my work flow so if there is no way to stop it is there maybe an older version of image glass I can install instead that doesn't support webview2?
Or is there some other process involved here? If image glass isn't the one asking me to install it some leads on where to look would be helpful. I'd dig in and manually delete system files to stop this if I have to.
Note: When I search for similar discussions all I see is a bug that occurs when webview2 is installed and when I search the internet in general I see lots of complaints with it using resources so I have even less reason to let that garbage ever run on this machine.
