ImageGlass need admin rights in Citrix session

Hello guys,

I am having an issue with ImageGlass when configured as default photo viewer in Citrix Session on Windows Server 2022.
It always wants to have admin rights when configured as default photo viewer in the user session.
After logging the user off and on again, default viewer is not set.
Reinstall didn´t work, ofc it´s installed for everyone.

Because I have some users working with Adobe CC I can´t set it to default per .json.

Any ideas how to get rid of the problem?

There have been always some issues with setting Default photo viewer. IG uses HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for the default photo viewer, that's why it requires admin right.

You can try running a command line manually to register default viewer for some extensions, just don't pass --per-machine param: https://imageglass.org/docs/command-line-utilities#set-default-viewer-string-exts-per-machine

For example:

igcmd.exe set-default-viewer .png;.jpg;.webp

Do you have any clue why previous versions were working?
My users really like ImageGlass and I would really love the have it available for them.

Since v9.3, I have switched to use "per machine" instead of "per user" for setting default photo viewer which always requires admin rights. This is because some people reported here it didn't work (#1938, #2102, #1855).
I will revert back to "per user" in the next version.

I don't have the exact date yet, maybe in September or October, I'm not sure. I have to gather enough "issues" for a new release. Some people complained that I published too many releases for ImageGlass even though there are only 3 or 4 a year.

Maybe I can publish it as a beta version. What do you think?

We are fine with whatever suits you best.
Having a beta which is adressing my issue would be awesome tbh but please don´t feel forced to do so.
In my opinion 3 to 4 updates a year is not "many" but I guess if you ask 10 people you´ll get 10 different answers.

Like I said we love to use ImageGlass and so do my users. We are looking forward to a new version or beta :-)
