Matrices

• The numbers, letters, and other symbols in a matrix must be properly aligned in order to be understood.
• Precise formatting is essential.
• Table formatting might be useful, as well as left-align or right-align functionality.
• Columns should be left adjusted except for minus signs, which should be brailled to stand out ((GTM 5.2)
• When enlarged grouping indicators are used, these should be vertically aligned.
• A matrix in braille may also be preceded and followed by a blank line or a top and bottom box line.
• One column of blank cells should be left between each column of data.
• Signs of operation and comparison should be placed on the top line even when they're centered in print.

I think it is probably more involved: see Guidelines for Technical Material 15.2 (for UEB): it says that columns are left justified, except for minus signs which should go to the left.

There's also the question of how to make the matrix inline with text: unlike a table, it is not a separate block.

There are some examples in GTM 15.2 for UEB. I'm sure other braille codes may have additional requirements.
