GameCube adapter on Wii

Hi everybody, i'm using an 2-controller adapter to use my controller as NGC controllers on Wii, but some emulators (like snes9x gx) don't recognize my controller, do i have to install a firmware for wii or gamecube? If it so, wich one i install? When it recognizes it, the buttons are swapped and i cannot map on configurations.
