The Overview pane is the landing page for a new dashboard and should help the user with:

getting a sense of the dataset
selecting a subset of the data for QC
exporting subsets of the data for external use without immediate QC

My proposal is something like this:

the first screen contains tiles with top-level information to give a quick overview
the tiles themselves are clickable and lead to more detailed visualizations
all screens have a table of subjects at the bottom
the table is searchable with multiple-conditions
on a sub-screen clicking on a column in the table updates the figures
I can select a subset of the dataset by dragging an area of the figure or by entering search terms in the table
