@ze42 Wondering what's your opinion on this.
The goal is to offer the beginner user some helpful instruction for what to run next, i.e. after creating a preparation, suggest the user to run start-scan.
Though this won't work with --json and experienced user may find this annoying.

mmm... Include such insight into the help sections?

If you want to help beginner, they'll surely try to figure out what commands do with help on each commands.

Note: found the hard way you should not do start-gendag too early. Once, I attempted to launch all start stuffs before running the working to do the job.

start scan
start pack
start daggen
...
run the worker

And the daggen failed. :)

Also, you could include such in --verbose outputs.

Especially, getting some hints on status with some --verbose could be nice.

But that would require to have the --verbose state it also gives insight/help on what seems like the usual next steps.
