Unhinged AutoCorrect: User Guide

What is Unhinged AutoCorrect?

Unhinged AutoCorrect is a Chrome extension that transforms boring corporate jargon into Gen Z slang while you browse the web. It can also replace images with memes for extra chaos!

Installation

  1. Download the extension files
  2. Open Chrome/Edge and go to chrome://extensions/ or edge://extensions/
  3. Enable "Developer Mode" using the toggle in the top-right corner
  4. Click "Load unpacked" and select the folder containing the extension files
  5. The skull icon should appear in your browser toolbar

Basic Usage

  1. Click the skull icon in your toolbar to open the extension popup
  2. Toggle "Enable Translation" to start converting corporate jargon
  3. Browse any website to see the magic happen

Settings

The extension has several settings to customize your experience:

Translation Settings

  • Enable Translation: Master switch that turns all features on/off
  • NSFW Mode 馃敒: Enables adult-oriented slang translations

Emoji Settings

  • 馃拃 Mode: Randomly inserts skull and other emojis into translated text
  • Emoji Intensity: Control how frequently emojis appear (slider)

Image Settings

  • Replace Images: Replaces all images on websites with meme images

Stats

The extension tracks:

  • Number of words translated
  • Number of emojis added

You can reset these stats using the "Reset" button.

Troubleshooting

If the extension freezes your browser:

  1. Disable "Replace Images" as this feature is resource-intensive
  2. Try refreshing the page
  3. In extreme cases, go to extension management and disable the extension

If translations aren't working:

  1. Make sure "Enable Translation" is toggled on
  2. Refresh the page you're viewing
  3. Check if you're on a supported page type

Performance Tips

  • The image replacement feature uses significant resources, especially on image-heavy sites
  • Use NSFW Mode only when appropriate
  • Adjust emoji intensity lower if you notice performance issues
