@gilbrotheraway we're in the process of updating this.

But here's the status quo (today):

• We bundle opencode in the app as a sidecar to make sure we fully control the opencode version
• We allow users to use their PATH opencode which defaults to which opencode

In the past we:

• Defaulted to path, and had some scripts that would install opencode for you if we didn't find something in the PATH
• Had sidecar (bundled opencode) as backup option.

So in the future we will:

• Clean up the install scripts because they're not used anymore
• Only focus on making the bundled opencode version the core experience
• Keep PATH mode as an escape hatch for people who understand what it does
