Win 11 problem during install

Hi, I tried new version of Win-For and have two problems.
First is sift and remnux install failed problem is exactly same as here ekristen/cast#134
And during the download cast is not current version. So my solution was, download and replace cast and then create manualy this directory /etc/apt/keyrings/

Second and not solved for me is portal app is not working it needs update and during instalation update is not installed.

And also I have suggestion for addind DFIR_Toolbar - https://github.com/Beercow/DFIR_Toolbar

Hi @sidomir7 , good catch. That change didn't get reflected for some reason when I updated the WSL distor, so I'll fix that up.

For portals, it's not updated during install because at this time because the update will unintentionally erase the portals settings and layout, causing them to be lost. I'm generating new templates for Portals this week to make sure it gets installed properly, so the latest version will be installed.

As for DFIR_Toolbar, I'm going to take a look at it as well this week and see how it works with installation and in the environment. Thanks for the suggestion!

@sidomir7 the WSL issue has been resolved, so you should be able to simply run the WSL Only option from the Win-FOR Customizer to install it now. I'll let you know when Portals has been updated and is ready for a new config. Cheers!

also i have a question, if i all ready installed the tools, what happens exactly when i run the installer again? @digitalsleuth

Hi @AbuBacker-Ameen , most of the tools which are already installed, and are the same version, will not be reinstalled, they'll be detected and the install will move to the next package. There are a few of the standalone tools which will end up being reinstalled simply because they had to be installed as a git repository or downloaded as a zip and extracted.

Tools which are installed and are older than the one to be installed will be upgraded to the newest configured version.

Hi @sidomir7 , unfortunately there seems to be an issue with Portals v3.3.x, where the configured Portals config file is not accepted by the newer version of Portals. I've raised an issue here to address this, but until the issue is resolved, I'll be leaving the configured version at 3.2.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but once I receive a response / fix, I'll keep you posted and update as necessary.
