Android Studio may be downloaded from here. You'll need to install the Android 7.0 Nougat version (API level 24) and the Java 8 SDK (which can be downloaded from here). You can browse all the Java 8 source code here and you can browse all the Android source code online here.

You will be required to make a Gitlab account. You may do so here (see 'New User' if you do not yet have an account). Once you have created your account, ensure that you are logged in, and you will find a screen that looks like this:

Click the 'New Project' button to create your own repository for your coursework. Please look carefully at everything that is circled in a red rectangle.

Once that is complete, you should be taken to your repository. Click on the 'Settings' butt on the right hand side:

On the first Settings page, please make sure that 'Private' is selected. (VERY IMPORTANT: Failure to do so will have consequences)

Don't forget to scroll down and save your changes if you made any:
