Movement?

Is it something I am doing or is the only way to move using the scroll wheel or a touchpad? I can't do the usual spacebar+Mouse for movement.
I would be happy if someone explains how the movement around the canvas works

You cannot use Space + Mouse to move the canvas.
Use the mouse scroll wheel to move up/down.
Hold Shift + scroll wheel to move left/right.
Use a touchpad (two-finger drag) to pan around.
Zoom out (Ctrl + -) to navigate more easily.
Use the mini-map (if enabled) to move quickly.
