It may be possible to get a false value in response to a "get". We should perhaps do something similar to certificate authentication in the Convergence project, where you ask other machines to perform a "get" for you and see their responses and compare. This would reduce the chance of collusion if the DISTRESS DHT was accessed in multiple locations.

Agreed. This would require a supermajority of compromised nodes, and even then it would still be obvious if something strange is going on. This would require a new system architecture, so I suggest this be a long-term improvement goal.
