Not working for edge netflix 4k HDR #40

Hello, I am not sure that I completely follow. Why can't any browser get 4k stream off of netflix? Also, wasn't aware that the browser thing for hardware acceleration is still needed for Windows OS. When you enable acceleration and manually scale it works fine? I ask because in a new version that I'm slowly writing, there's a big change that everything works with scaling only. So I wonder if I'm going to be able to remove that troubleshot section. |

From what I understand, it is because of specific DRM and HEVC codec support that the edge browser specifically has. When I disable hardware acceleration, UltraWideo works perfectly as intended, but not when it is enabled. Also, by disabling hardware acceleration the edge browser is no longer able to provide 4k HDR streaming and is limited to 1080p only therefor defeating the purpose of using the edge browser to stream Netflix in the first place. I've tried all 3 solutions on the guide page to no avail, the first solution doesn't seem to do anything at all. The second solution has the same problem as solution 3 in that it disables the ability to receive a 4k HDR stream. You can get Netflix nerd stats to display by pressing CTRL ALT SHIFT D when streaming, and it will display quite a bit of information including codecs, renderer, resolution, bit rate etc. If this is something you are interested in trying yourself. Just FYI if you have a multi display setup running you will need to turn off all but 1 monitor that has a higher resolution than 1080p for it to stream 4k. If you need more information like system specs, drivers, screenshots, UltraWideo settings, etc. let me know, and I will be happy to provide you with what you need. |

I've been trying to get the extension to work with netflix on edge specifically because you can get 4k HDR playback via edge but unfortunately the app doesn't seem to want to work properly. I've tried the troubleshooting section where you disable hardware acceleration and a couple other things, but the problem with disabling hardware acceleration is that it also disables the ability to get 4k HDR playback. I can sometimes get it to work if I set both the X and Y parameters to 1.33 but then I end up with parts of the video cut off. I usually run it with X set to 1.33 and Y set to 1 (the stretching doesn't bother me) to keep my OLED from burning in while consuming content. Is this something that is going to be addressed or is it something that just cannot be done?
