test: add integration-style coverage for output splitting and ordering

## Summary
Add stronger test coverage around end-to-end-ish behavior that matters to users.

## Suggested coverage
- split output file naming
- max size splitting behavior
- ascending vs descending ordering
- stable JSON output expectations

## Motivation
These behaviors are central to the tool but are easiest to regress without broader tests.
