Extend the public API of the agent to allow setting destination fields as described in elastic/apm#424 .

  • Short term solution: extend existing Span API without breaking the API using a noop for destination field on transaction.
  • Long term: Evaluate the option of replacing the public API with the OTel API / OTel Bridge.
