Description

Settings for the AI assistant have changed and new ones have been added.

The documentation needs to be updated accordingly describing each of the options and providing recommendations for the settings.

Additionally we would like to provide more information about how to use Search Connectors to provide content to the Knowledge Base.

Thanks @emma-raffenne for the productive meeting!

I'm sharing here a summary of what we have talked about:

• We will review all the screenshots of the current document (https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/observability/current/obs-ai-assistant.html), as the majority of them look outdated.

• We will include in the document the information of how to access the AI Assistant Settings page (there are two paths available) and we will determine what to add there, considering the settings are already described in the UI (cc: @bmorelli25 ).

we would like to provide more information about how to use Search Connectors to provide content to the Knowledge Base.

The current doc doesn't have any information about this, and based on your description about this being an important feature to enrich the AI assistant KB we will find the way to include it. Probably under Add data to the AI Assistant knowledge base section of the doc. I'll talk to your team for ideas of what to add in the docs and also double-check that the description of the setting in the UI is accurate.

I've found https://www.elastic.co/observability-labs/blog/elastic-rag-ai-assistant-application-issues-llm-github which includes a good level of details about how search connectors can be integrated with the AI Assistant knowledge base.

Note that the Search Connectors are not available for the Knowledge Base in Serverless deployments, users would need to deploy them on a separate cluster and this is too complicated and out of scope of this user documentation.
Therefore, please do not update the Serverless user documentation with this part.
