Flathub has a verification status, to make sure whoever post an app is the developer.
A verified app has a badge displayed on Flathub, and is considered more trustworthy and secure, because it is not from a third party
By default, Mint's software center offers Flathub by default, but hides unverified apps out of the box https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/06/linux-mint-will-hide-unverified-flatpaks
A similar feature would be interesting for the Appcenter, to avoid the standard user to install unverified apps without considering the security risk, while still allowing the wider offering of Flathub.
It could be done in several ways:
-Hide unverified apps, but have a toggle in the settings to show those
-Warn the user if they attempt to install an unverified app, asking them to confirm, have a toggle to disable warnings
-Warn the user in the app description (is it already done ? My apologies my eOS 7.1 box dont seem to but i dont recall if i enabled flathub...)
What would be your thoughts on this ?
Stay hydrated, stay shmexy crispy
