Well, the ideal solution would be the app just runs faster, but since that may not be an option right now, I am thinking it will be preferable to have candidate pages open in a new tab when you click a candidate's name.
Every time you press the Back to Election button, it takes at least 7 seconds for the page to reload. I think that will be a big turnoff to most users, especially if you have 10, 20, 30 or S0 candidates on a page. If we have the candidate open in a new tab, it is a kind of funky process, but it gets rid of the loading time issues entirely. Also, maybe this is preferable because it encourages users to open multiple candidate profiles at the same time to compare and contrast?
Anyway, I'm not sure this option will be preferable than the current setup, but maybe it's worth a try...

Hrmm I just noticed that when I open in new tab with Chrome, that it doesn't actually navigate me to the page, it just opens in a new tab, and I then have to click the tab to view the page. That would not be preferable. Can we set it up so clicking a candidate's name opens in a new tab and displays that page at the same time?
I've made the changes.. I think the tabs is just a rough band-aid and we probably just need to pull out some of the duct tape and make a proper view and then all of a sudden the browser's back button will work great.
