Hey Matthias, thanks for creating and sharing the papers-to-bookends script! I see that it's for Papers 3 and I have Readcube Papers v4...when I try to run the script it breaks at the name of the Papers program. Is there a way to adapt the script for RCPv4?

Hi Jen, thanks for getting in touch!

While Papers 3 is scriptable and supports the macOS scripting frameworks (AppleEvents via AppleScript or JavaScript for Automation), the "Readcube Papers" successor released by Digital Science is not scriptable.

Papers versions 1 thru 3 were implemented using native Mac programming frameworks whereas Readcube Papers has been completely rewritten using cross-plattform technologies and styled to closely match the look of Papers 3. But under the hood, these apps are actually very different.

So, unfortunately, my "Papers to Bookends" script cannot support the Readcube Papers version since that app doesn't (and likely never will) support the Mac scripting technologies that my script requires.

Ah, too bad. I guess my decision to move to Bookends seems even wiser now, but all the more frustrating on the Papers side of it. Thanks though!
