I often use HTML-style comments with three dashes instead of two because it is a special syntax for ISML templates used by Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Three dash HTML comments are treated as template-level comments, so they are stripped from the template when it is processed.
This is a minor issue that has always bothered me a little bit 😅 It would be nice if the <!--- rendered without any ligatures, or if <!--- and ---> were supported with ligatures.
