CentOS 7.6 Fails to boot on fresh install. #32
Comments
Last I tested was with rolling release 1809-01 - I'll check with 1810 - there were some major changes in ssg that would uninstall x-windows - had to roll back to scap-security-guide-0.1.36 instead of 0.1.40 (included in RHEL 7.6) - might be the same problem. |
I also think there were a bit of changes in CentOS 7.6 itself that has been causing some issues. I noticed a couple of systems broke when doing a yum update from 7.5 to 7.6. BTW, TY for this project its been a godsend. |
I have way more done that I can't release due to it being licensed to other groups. I maintain it because people need a way to support their installations - security people also don't realize that the SITGs stand for Security Implementation Technical Guidelines. The key word being "Guidelines" - not "REQUIREMENTS". I should have a patch out shortly since I fixed this on RHEL by downgrading the SCAP Security Guide to the previous version due to the breakage. |
Validating install - will post changes shortly. |
Posted updates - please validate. |
Install type was workstation, hard drive not encrypted, all other setting set to default. GUI will start, but then seems to crash, working on getting logs to post.
Update:
While this isn't a root fix, its a work around. I edited the startup config, set the runlevel to 3, then ran the command 'yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop" -y' and rebooted and it seems to be working now. Will dig into it a little bit more later when I get some time but figured I would let you know now.
