Publish new version to npm

Would it be possible to publish a new version to npm? 6.0.3 was published 3 years go and a handful of fixes have been pushed since then

@frankhinek maybe a few additional contributors reporting that the main branch is working for them, other than @chjj? 💛

I haven't had an opportunity to test some of the recent changes tbh

@dcousens I'd feel more comfortable with that too. For what it's worth, I did get around to testing the most recent changes in modern Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Everything seems to work.

The only other PR I feel is necessary to get in before a release is #354, which un-does my mistake of referencing global as though it were universal. The optimization stuff can probably wait.
