What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?
The main reason I chose Files as my primary file manager for Windows is its Columns layout, which is similar to macOS Finder. This layout is particularly useful for managing complex directory structures. Additionally, Files offers a consistent design, high compatibility with system integration, and overall a great user experience.
However, there is one inconvenience with the Columns layout: it lacks detailed information for files and folders in the current directory. For example, when I want to quickly view the modification date or size of files within the current directory, it's not possible to see that information at a glance in the Columns layout. A similar feature is implemented in OneCommander, which could serve as a reference. Please see the attached screenshot for details.
While its implementation may not be the most visually appealing or user-friendly, it does meet the basic functional requirements. I look forward to seeing your improved implementation.
Requirements
Integrate file details into the Columns layout
Files Version
3.7.8.0
Windows Version
Windows 11 23H2 22631.4169
