@barthalion, I am knowing that this is not relevant to our most recent discussion, but if you are able to force this, it would cause one less security vulnerability to plage the internet.

Instead of EOLing the branch (not entirely sure that's actually possible without affecting the rest) I would rather bring it in sync with master.

FWIW you can EOL just one branch (pulseeffects does exactly this), but yeah rebasing is a good idea too.
