It's not entirely clear if we will need anything on the portal side. The image format for HDR that seems to establish itself is HDR gainmaps, which are entirely backwards compatible. As such, compositors could start providing them without any changes at the portal. |

With the recent release of the color management protocol, it would be helpful if there was a way to capture HDR screenshots (>8bpc color / non-sRGB color spaces) using the screenshot portal. Currently, such functionality doesn't seem to exist and the portal looks tied to sRGB.
