[Question] prometheus data storage

I've noticed that once a fluentd pods restarts, all data collected by prometheus plugin is lost.
Is there an option to write data to disk and read it on start? something like the following:

<storage resume>
  @type local
  path /var/log/fluent/prometheus_data
</storage>
