Please make this mod for 1.12.2 because some PCs may not run this mod on 1.18.2 or 1.18.1, and there may also be more add-ons for this mod because 1.12.2 is easier to code (I think so), and also on 1.12.2 more people play with mods. There is also a better optimization on 1.12.2.

While I would love to see OC2 on 1.12, I have few nitpicks to this:

1. Many add-ons and mods will not be compatible with OC2 at all because it is built very differently
2. I've tried both 1.12 and 1.18 modding and so far 1.18 has been easier. Much easier.
3. "On 1.12, more people play with mods" - this same argument has been used in favor of 1.7.10 instead of 1.10-1.12 and so on, unelss you have real statistics, it's hard for that argument to have any value.
4. Versions of mc after 1.12 received huge performance upgrades, so the last statement is wrong. Even 2b2t is willing to transition to a newer version, as it is on 1.12 currently and has performance issues addressed in newer versions.

Also, the pinned issue #220 says ...

• Please do not ask for backports of this mod (e.g. to 1.12.2, 1.16.5, ...), it won't be backported.

So the mod will not likely be backported unless someone else is interested in doing it.

If you think about it from the developer's point of view, this makes a lot of sense to only target one version, because a lot of major changes happened in how minecraft works, especially in the rendering engine, between 1.12 and 1.18

Having attempted to write a mod myself a few times and even making something functional a couple times I would say that minecraft modding changes drastically and frequently, which makes it an annoyance to maintain backports or anything that involves many versions, especially if the span is as large as 1.12 to 1.18 or newer.

Over time I think I've lost some passion for playing modded minecraft, the idea of an OpenComputers-based server is long buried and I will probably just play Create Above&Beyond and ports/updates. Butt I do love OpenComputers and OpenComputers 2. It simply doesn't blow my mind away now.
