I see Julia has one of these new Twitter communities: https://twitter.com/OfficialLoganK/status/1463561919378321409 - is there an R one yet? Should we start one? This could be good for folks with limited internet in particular. One issue to consider is languages - should there be separate communities, or a clear policy of tweeting in any language?

I don't think there is one, not a general one anway.
The R community is very well acquainted with Twitter, and we have a very established twitterverse.

This idea probably works best at a local/ regional level - particularly those with no strong local R community structures.
I dont think it could be feasibly run by Forwards. It is best to let the local communities do this themselves. We just suggest it to them.

The Julia Community is structured very different. While it has been growing fast, it is still small.
The Julia Community also has a "Hub & Spoke" model that doesn't really exist in the R community.
The Hub being the community manager and associated officers (myself included) and the spokes being things like this twitter community, Julia slack, the Discourse, Outreach etc etc

Twitter is now called "X" and is not a platform that is upholding the Forwards values. Mastodon is where the audience is largely shifted.
