Suggestion to remove jquery dependency or add note on the dependency

Hi, I have a polite suggestion to add a note to your documentation that jquery is required. This got me stuck for a long time until I realized the dependency is needed. This could be added to the README. Or alternatively, it could be removed as a dependency and functionality rewritten.
