GTN-in-Galaxy can get stuck on a displayed image

Describe the bug
When navigating the GTN material with the GTN-in-Galaxy feature, it is possible to click on an image and enter a state where navigation back to the training material is not possible.

To Reproduce

1. Click the "scholar hat" to display GTN
2. Navigate to Introduction to Galaxy Analyses and then A Short Introduction to Galaxy
3. Click on the galaxy-login.png in the What does Galaxy look like section?

The GTN view is now "locked" into seeing this image

Expected behavior
Some means of navigating back to the GTN material should be available.

Additional context
Reproduced on usegalaxy.org and usegalaxy.fr (both Galaxy 25.0 servers) as well as GalaxyTrakr (a 21.09 1.dev0 server)

Workaround (on Firefox) is to go to Developer Tools -> Storage -> Local Storage and delete the gtn-in-galaxy key in the relevant Galaxy server's section (e.g. usegalaxy.eu) and then reload the page.

Update - on Firefox and Chrome, hitting the browser's back button is the way to get out of this.

This seems like a legit gotcha, not sure if we can do something about it but i'll let others weigh in

Reproduced on main (signed in).
Could NOT reproduce in the following cases (i.e., back button works: can go back to tutorial):

• incognito mode on main
• .eu (not signed in)
• .ca (signed in)

Chrome (134.0.6998.35), on Fedora.

I think, one option would be to make those images open in a modal, which, I think, does not affect browser history.

The same happens if you click other links that take you out of the GTN, e.g. "Content licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License" at the bottom (although that's less likely), and in some cases you get a "Firefox Can’t Open This Page" error page to prevent clickjacking.
A solution would be to have Back and Forward buttons in a GTN overlay frame, where we could also add a Close button. This would make it clearer how the user can interact with the overlay.
