In the README it states "submit your pull request before midnight Monday, May 25th PDT" but it was closed today (May 22nd) at 2:30 PM PDT?

Can someone please re-open it until the date originally stated please?

Thank you ❤️

@juanpflores why was this done without informing anyone beforehand?

Hey folks 👋
It has been amazing being able to see the interest of students from all over the world joining this celebration. We’re blown away by the response from our community and never anticipated reaching capacity for the yearbook so quickly! We’re hard at work reviewing applications. To ensure that the virtual stage is set in time for the event we, unfortunately, can no longer accept new submissions.

Ahh I was so excited about this... 😢

If we've written a blog post, can we still enter that for tier 2? I was in the middle of writing it when I saw this was closed... Considering this was an event for seniors dealing with an unexpected cancellation of their graduation, this situation seems rather ironic.

I saw this repo yesterday and was going to add my name today... I don’t understand why it was closed early with no warning. I hope Github reconsiders. I’m disappointed and frustrated I wasn’t able to submit a quality quote and blogpost.

Yeah, agreed with the other comments that this is very disappointing, hopefully people are allowed to keep submitting since I was about to create a pull request but it closed without notice while I was sleeping :(

Spent a couple hours on a blog post specifically for this event :(
Doesn't make sense to publish it now...

@juanpflores I can see how many people are getting frustrated over this and I don't really understand your cause to close it down. If you did not expect such a mass of PRs, you need to get more people to help you review them, not close down submissions.
There are a lot of people that want to volunteer reviewing and there would be even a lot more people willing to help if you would give them a small incentive.
Come on guys, 2000 is really all you can take? Let's all work on this together!

I had my tab open on this repo and now I noticed a note added about it being closed. Was there any notice for submissions closing early upon max capacity? I only saw 5/25 as the deadline.

This was supposed to be an inclusive and welcomed place for students around the world that missed their graduation because of the pandemic, yet they unexpectedly closed any further submissions before the actual deadline.

Unless we try to spread the word and reach as many people we can I doubt that they will do anything about it.

This is really not fair, all real graduations had been cancelled, then after getting everyone excited about this, the rug was pulled on everyone who was taking some time to work on their post. Please reconsider.

@juanpflores I didn't submit my pull request yesterday because in #1745 you said that a new tool for better submitting pull request would have been available really soon, and then everything is closed earlier without notice.
It seems like a joke...

Even though they announced that submissions are closed the airtable form is still valid and you can still create PRs. I would advise everyone to just do it, and hope for the best 🤞

Yay! Looks like Github heard the feedback and although they don’t have tier 2 available anymore at least tier 1 submissions will remain open 😃

Hey Everyone 👋 😞,
Just getting everyone in the loop for this. Thank you all for your thoughtful feedback. We’ve heard you and we sincerely apologize for the confusion. Submissions will remain open until Monday, May 25th midnight. Unfortunately, we have reached capacity for our Tier 2 swag requests and cannot continue to offer that as of today. However, all approved submissions are eligible to receive Tier 1 swag and have projects reviewed for the ceremony.
