I understand that you can use regular WebRTC to stream video to clients without recording, but I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate that as a flag in this library as well. That way I can use one library and keep everything in one place. If that's possible, I could probably work on it, just point me in the right direction.

Hey joshterrill, you're correct! The reason why we are recording is so that we can convert the stream blobs into torrent files. Torrent files are immutable so we record and then seed the torrent. The world of webtorrent/torrent is a whole 'nother world, but I think it would be awesome if we could take webTorrents out of the library completely and build our own DHT and tracker system for just webRTC live video streaming. It's a project for the future though... thoughts?

@kbbqiu Nice work on this. Did you guys look at PPSPP at all (https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7574)? As you mention, it would be a custom implementation that forms a new per-stream swarm on top of a DHT for tracker discovery. We're considering testing it out for p2p distribution on top of Livepeer.
