It would the best to auto-choose compression based on the quality of the source files.

Example: you like the default of 44khz/stereo/64kbps but it doesn't make any sense to use these settings for converting an audio book recorded as mp3-mono-56k-22khz

This is a feature request for an option to auto-downgrade the compression settings based on the quality of the source files. It would be acceptable to use only the quality of the first file, assuming that the others will have the same quality.

I could see three possible settings on the options page:

  • Use quality settings from first track
  • Use Highest quality settings from all tracks
  • Custom
    • Current Quality Settings
