Make sure that inputs and outputs on tabs are not calculated util they are displayed

I noticed that some calculations are performed before the tab containing it is displayed. Need to figure out why and stop it.

Initial guesses:
observers requiring values on init? and then updating inputs even when hidden?
dat_raw is NULL before opening the tab and the value of initial data is propagated even though it does not need to
