Following #5, it was found that since the original release of this code the image_comparison tests are now broken on account of updates to matplotlib

I have now reinstated a monthly cron job so that such things will be caught in between pull requests, but the solution for now was to drop the image comparison tests. These need to therefore be reinstated in the new matplotlib framework.
