Using github.com/fogleman/gg and Hack font, it is currently not possible draw U+2717 BALLOT X (cross).

Add special case for ✗ to mitigate render issue

Opened issue #1 to document that '✗' is not rendered correctly.

Add special case to replace '✗' with '×' to avoid the issue.
