I have my RPI 2 connected directly to a projector and I am looking for a way to mirror my laptop screen.

I've been running a similar setup for almost two years now: RPI 2 connected to a TV via HDMI. MICE (Miracast over Infrastructure) works very well, even better with lower latency than the standard Miracast; but I'm still making use of my RPI Zero W to initiate the handshake since MICE can't handle that itself without the help of a WIFI card. The best part is that RPI Zero W doesn't have to be an always-on device: you can plug that to your PC, use it to connect to your RPI 2, and then just switch it off. (:
