I'm trying to provide per-user power usage metrics to researchers within an academic environment to give them a sense of their overall power consumption over time. Currently, I'm managing this mapping within Grafana using data from Prometheus exported by Scaphandre (scaph_process_power_consumption_microwatts) and PID info from process-exporter.
Solution
Would it be practical for Scaphandre to directly include usernames alongside per-process metrics? This would make it easier to provide per-user power consumption metrics and not have to worry about PID reuse.
Let me know any thoughts on other ways to approach this task! I suspect there are complexities I haven't considered yet.
