Hi, I’m new to contributing to FireFly UI – I’d like to work on this issue. :-)

I’ve completed part of the work for this ticket:

✔ What’s done

Refactored sidebar navigation items to use React Router behavior via NavItem with the new to/href props.

All sidebar navigation entries now behave like real links:

CMD/CTRL + click opens in a new tab

Middle-click opens in a new tab

Right-click shows “Open link in new tab” / “Copy link address”

All other UI elements remain unchanged — only genuine navigational items were updated.

❓ Looking for clarification

Since I’m still new to the codebase, I want to confirm whether any non-sidebar UI elements should also support CMD/CTRL + click.

For example, the external-link–style icon buttons (such as the purple circular icon or the small grey external-link icon in the timeline area — screenshots attached below) sometimes link to another page or open a modal.

Before updating anything outside the sidebar, I want to confirm:

👉 Are these intended to behave as true navigational links, or should they remain action buttons?

If they should behave like links, I can update them to use / so they gain CMD/CTRL + click support as well.

If I’ve missed any other obvious link-like UI elements, please let me know. 😊
