How will we add additional functionality?

We've received several requests

Which suggest adding new functionality not directly related to SDC rendering in Storybook.
I'm not opposed to making the addon as user-friendly as possible for any type of use. But at the same time,

1. I don't want people who don't need this functionality to experience any inconvenience.
2. We shouldn't force people to use specific modules.
3. We shouldn't slow down Storybook for people who don't use certain extensions.

Therefore, I propose discussing how we can further extend the core functionality to support

and other wonderful Drupal initiatives.

In other words, we need a plugin system for the add-on.

Yes I was thinking about this too. But I'm not familiar with the creation of node packages that could be added to sdc-addon.
I think we can group ui_suite initiative modules feature together and put this two ones in the same addon.

I completely agree with your three points. I would like the add-on to be as simple as possible, supporting the default behaviour of SDC / Storybook, but not include code for third party contrib modules that I might never use. This makes it easier to update / support in the long term and be more performant

Then I'd say either have a plugin system like it was mentioned, or have each user add custom bits that suit their needs

I've created two addons :

and one last for ui-styles-storybook is on the way.
But it seems that a part of ui_styles and ui_skin will early move to drupal core so maybe we could integrate this directly in sdc-addon soon ?
