PlayStore Crash report java.lang.RuntimeException

Hello,
I have a lot of crash reports reported by PlayStore related to this problem:

What I can tell from the PlayStore is that it's a Background issue only, however, I am not sure how to reproduce this issue, when it happens and what causes it exactly?

Hi there!

Two things:

1. you will need to explain to me how a stack trace with no stack frames referencing react-native-firebase is related to react-native-firebase, right now, this looks like an unrelated problem?
2. your versions are from (checks changelog...) December 2020. That's pretty old. I wouldn't continue using those, personally, but item 1 ("I don't see how this is a react-native-firebase problem?" is the important point - this point is likely not related, it's just a bad sign.

From the stack trace there is:

at com.google.android.gms.gcm.GcmReceiver.zze (Unknown Source)
at com.google.android.gms.gcm.GcmReceiver.onReceive (Unknown Source:96)

which (to me) indicates that the problem is somehow related to com.google.gms:google-services, which is added to the project as a part of react-native-firebase and then maybe the problem is in com.google.gms:google-services or in relatation com.google.gms:google-services <=> react-native-firebase plugin.

Does it make sense, because I am not sure how it works under the hood?

But I will update the dependencies and see if this problem might get resolved with it.

GMS (Play Services) <-> firebase-android-sdk <-> react-native-firebase - so this will be a layer under us if still reproduced --> https://github.com/firebase/firebase-android-sdk/ would be the issues list to search in to see if they've seen anything related I think
