It would be nice to update the home page of this documentation portal with some graphics, a better overview description, or anything better than the current laundry list/summary of each documentation sub-site.

One problem with listing out the sub-sites is if there are name changes or sites are retired, we have to keep this page in sync. See screenshot:

Recently, I was looking for data flow charts related to our various services and DACs and how data flows between it all and up to the noaa catalogs. I wonder if that is something we should be including here? Relatively simple diagrams for data in, sharing mechanisms, and data.noaa.gov/data.gov pickup. Initial thoughts were to have one for each of the below:

• data.ioos.us
• HF-Radar
• Glider
• ATN
• MBON (https://ioos.github.io/mbon-docs/mbon-data-flow.html)

We have a couple of DAC slides already.

We should also include some high level slides/images highlighting our data standards and requirements. Tom Shyka (gh handle?) was looking for something in that vein.

I have a few data flow diagrams for various marine life data. Logging them here in case we want to add them to this page.
