What happened?

My wifey (as a pure user) tried to use slashes in her meeting name, not knowing that this will go wrong because of the meeting URL. As there is an exception missing for this behaviour, she got the generic error message like "Ooops, something went wrong" which puzzled her for at least half an hour.

As a user of the Android mobile app, I want to see the exact reason why I cannot create a meeting when using slashes.

Platform

  • Chrome (or Chromium based)
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Other desktop browser
  • Android browser
  • iOS browser
  • Electron app
  • Android mobile app
  • iOS mobile app
  • Custom app using a mobile SDK

Browser / app / sdk version

23.6.1 build 15437299

Relevant log output

No response

Reproducibility

  • The problem is reproducible on meet.jit.si

More details?

I tried to reproduce it on meet.jit.si in browser on my machine:

  • there will be a JS overlay popping up if using a special character, let's say, a dot
  • interestingly, there is no such warning when using a slash

One can start a meeting including a dot despite of the warning in JS overlay but using a slash (of course) leads to HTTP 404.

In the mobile app, the JS pop up is completely missing. One can enter whatever you want and the above described generic error message comes up.
