I've successfully set up pre-commit hooks for linting and formatting to catch issues before CI.

Todo List:

• Research existing CI linting/formatting setup
• Explore current Go tooling in the project
• Create .pre-commit-config.yaml configuration
• Add appropriate Go linting and formatting hooks
• Test the pre-commit setup (config validated, requires dev installation)
• Update documentation if needed
• Commit and push changes

What Was Added:

Files Created:

• .pre-commit-config.yaml - Pre-commit hooks configuration
• .golangci.yml - golangci-lint configuration for enhanced linting
• Updated README.md with development setup instructions

Pre-commit Hooks Include:

• Go formatting: gofmt, goimports
• Go linting: go vet, golangci-lint
• Dependencies: go mod tidy
• Build check: go build
• General: trailing whitespace, file endings, YAML/JSON validation

Setup Instructions:

Developers can now set up pre-commit hooks with:

pip install pre-commit
pre-commit install

The hooks will automatically run on git commit and catch the same issues that CI checks for, providing faster feedback during development.
