Description/Explanation of Results on ImageC website

Since I was recently looking for a detailed explanation of the reported results (e.g., intensity sum vs. intensity average), particularly for layers beyond the object layer (e.g., image layer or well layer, including how [sum] and [avg] are calculated), and could not find this information on the ImageC website, it might be helpful to include such an explanation =)

@annadl01 Good catch. I can see how that would be a major pain point.

There is the chapters about metrics and the objects in the documentation

The Objects chapter should describe the available measurements and their meanings, while the Metrics chapter should describe the calculated statistics derived from these measurements.

Where in the documentation did you first look for the information you needed?
I tend to extend the metrics chapter and describe the mathematics behind the well and plate statistics there?

@joda01 thanks a lot for the reply!

I first expected to find the information in the "Results", but of course "Metrics" makes more sense. I think the term itself was not so familiar with me.

However, the description of the Metrics are very clearly explained there already, I think the only thing missing in the list is "Intensity sum"; and "Intersection" in the list is named "Intersecting objects" in the class editor.

Now I also noticed that the statistics were already described there, also for the respective layer (for image view/for plate view). Also cool that the median can be output, I've also overseen that so far. Since what in the output in the results table is written in square brackets (e.g. [sum]) describes the statistics, I think a little note that it is displayed like that could be helpful =)

And I agree, that in this chapter, the mathematics behind the well and plate statistics would be really nice, especially because (if I understood correctly), one layer up always displays the MEAN of the layer below and e.g. not the SUM.

One more question out of curiosity I still have: is it correct, that:

Area size [sum] = Count [sum] × Area size [avg]
Intensity sum [sum] = Count [sum] × Intensity sum [avg] = Count [sum] × Area size [sum] × Intensity avg [avg]
Intensity avg [sum] = Count [sum] × Intensity avg [avg]

And if yes, why are the values when calculated always a bit differing from the values displayed?

Moreover, I really like both the structure and the design of the website a lot!
